Senior Congress Leader and Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan today observed that the Congress rally to be held here on October 9 to be addressed by AICC President Sonia Gandhi will prove the party's strength in Tamil nadu.
He told reporters that after inspecting the arrangements for the proposed Congress rally, since the elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly were nearing, the Congress rally and Ms Gandhi's visit were of great significance.
The meeting was being organised to felicitate Ms Gandhi on her re-election as AICC President for the fourth term in succession and also to formally induct supporters of Former Union Minister S Thirunavukkarasar into the Congress.
He said lakhs and lakhs of Congressmen from across the State would assemble at Tiruchirapalli on the day to give a rousing reception to Ms Gandhi.
He called upon the partymen to come in large numbers to the proposed rally here to make it a great success
