Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minsiter M K Stalin and leaders of various parties today paid floral tributes to late Congress leader G K Moopanar, on the occasion of his ninth death anniversary.
After Moopanar's son and Union Minister G K Vasan paid homage at the 'samadhi', scores of partymen lined up and paid their tributes.
Mr Stalin visited the memorial this morning and paid floral tributes, followed by leaders of other parties, including DMDK founder-leader Vijayakanth and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) President Thol Thirumavalavan.
TNCC President K V Thangkabalu, former Union Ministers E V K S Elangovan, Su Thirunavukarasar and S R Balasubramaniam were among others who paid tributes and homage to the late leader.
Mr Vasan distributed bicycles, computers and uniforms to school students and welfare assistances to the poor. On behalf of the central Chennai unit, 500 women were given sarees.
At the TNCC headquarters ''Sathyamurthy Bhavan'', Mr Thangkabalu garlanded the portrait of Mr Moopanar and paid floral tributes along with his colleagues.
A book on Mr Mooapanar, compiled by M S Ameed, was released by lyricist Vaali and Mr Vasan received the first copy.
Blood donation, eye screening camps and mass feeding were oragnised on the occasion.
