UPA GOVERNMENT COMMITED TO BUILDING A STRONG INDIA



At the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science a deemed-to-be university established under Sec 3 of the UGC Act 1956 Honble Minister Shri S M Krishna Union Minister for External Affairs inaugurated the Research & Resource Center as also a Central Digital Library at their Bay Range Campus, Padur while Hon’ble Minister Shri G K Vasan, Union Minister for Shipping unveiled the bust of the founder Dr KCG Verghese

Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan today said the Centre had planned to set up 16 Central Universities, seven Indian Institutes of Management Studies and ten National Institutes of Technology across the country.
Participating at a function at Hindustan University here, he said the UPA Government was committed to Building a strong India for which it had made education compulsory for all children between six and 14 years of age.
The government had allocated Rs 45,000 crore for this purpose and it would benefit 92 lakh children. He also said Rs 11,000 crore was allocated for higher education which was 12 per cent higher compared to the previous year.
