PM Dung welcomes Indian Minister of Shipping
The Vietnamese government always supports cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and the Indian Ministry of Shipping, especially in maritime and inland waterways.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said this at a reception for the visiting Indian Minister of Shipping, G. K. Vasan in Hanoi on May 24.
Dung appreciated the results of talks between Transport Minister Dinh La Thang and the Indian guest, saying that agreements reached by the two ministries will make practical contributions to relations between the two nations.
Vietnam will do all it can to strengthen links with India in various fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, national defence and security, education and training for mutual benefits, Dung said.
He also expressed his wish that the two countries will offer each other support at international forums, for the stability and prosperity of both nations, the region and the world.
The Government leader suggested India to speed up negotiation towards the early signing of a new agreement to replace the 1993 aviation agreement, and increase maritime traffic and shipbuilding cooperation.
Vasan told Dung that the two ministries signed the Maritime Agreement during his visit, shared experiences and discussed solutions for port management and maritime transport.
He affirmed that his country regards Vietnam as a pillar in its “Look East” policy and is willing to work with Vietnam to enhance cooperation in the fields of the two countries’ strength.
