Ports should set eye on profits, social and green responsibility: Vasan
All major ports and public sector undertakings under the shipping ministry will have to follow the 'triple bottomline reporting' system, Union minister for shipping G K Vasan said on Saturday. Under the system, companies set goals and publish reports in terms of profits, environment-friendly initiatives and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
"In recent years, leading corporate houses in the country have started triple bottomline reporting. This approach seems to be quite compatible with our value systems and I would like major ports and PSUs under the ministry of shipping to set their targets and report performance in terms of their financial results, green initiatives and CSR activities," Vasan said.
